Galina Cherniak
Born in Moscow, Galina's inspiration and desire to paint originated when her son presented her with an unusual but special gift on Mother's Day in 1982-a bouquet of trilliums he had picked. After thanking her son and gently informing him that he shouldn't pick trilliums, Galina decided to do some research into Canadian floral symbols. This research led to her first painting depicting a bouquet of all the Canadian floral symbols. Her works scenery, still life and portraits expressed in acrylic, colored pencil, pastel, and charcoal.
Galina's work is in private collections through Canada, the United States and Europe. Of special mention at the Vatican(2 paintings-Pope John Paul II), in England( Queen Elizabeth II), and in Toronto (Mel Lastman , Monte Kwinter M.P.P., St. John's Rehabilitation
Hospital ) among others.
