Rhonda LeGrove Garton
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Rhonda graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Medical Illustration and worked for 20 years in the fields of medical and commercial illustration and design in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. Since 2003, she has studied oil painting, colour theory and composition at the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design and the Vancouver Academy of Art, and is a student of master painter Paul Chizik.
"Though I am drawn to many subjects, including still life and landscape, portraiture holds a particular fascination for me and always has. Working in traditional methods, I find oils to have a richness, vibrancy and translucency that is timeless and unique, and that the process of layering paint breathes life into the emerging subject.
Other than summers spent at Otter Lake Ontario, Rhonda lives and works in Vancouver, British Columbia.
