The Virtual Portrait Museum will officially open on August 28, 2026, as a permanent feature of the Portrait Society of Canada's website, www.portraitsocietyofcanada.com . The museum will provide artists with a prestigious platform to exhibit their work, connect with audiences around the world, and contribute to the ongoing appreciation of portrait art.
Founded in 2001, the Portrait Society of Canada has spent the past 25 years promoting, supporting, and advancing the art of portraiture in Canada and internationally. Through exhibitions, competitions, educational programs, artist networking opportunities, and commissions, the Society has become a leading voice for portrait artists and portrait art enthusiasts.
The creation of the Virtual Portrait Museum marks an exciting new chapter in the Society's mission. By bringing together outstanding portrait artists from diverse cultures and artistic traditions, the museum will serve as a dynamic and accessible global gallery, open to visitors 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world.
The Portrait Society of Canada warmly invites portrait artists from Canada and around the globe to apply for inclusion in the Virtual Portrait Museum. Artists working in all portrait media and styles are encouraged to participate.
