The National Young Artist Portrait Competition is an online competition sponsored by the Portrait Society of Canada. It is open to all Canadian young visual artists between the ages of 8 and 18 who are interested in the art of portraiture.
As the only professional online youth competition in fine art portraiture in Canada, this event provides a unique opportunity to encourage public recognition of portrait art within contemporary Canadian culture.
The competition consists of two divisions: Kids (ages 8–13) and Youth (ages 14–18).
Young artists born between October 1, 2008 and October 1, 2018 are eligible to participate.
October 20, 2026
Young artists are invited to submit digital images of their artwork. Jurying will be conducted by a selection committee appointed by the Portrait Society of Canada.
Top finalists’ works will be displayed on the Portrait Society website from November 1 to November 20, 2026.
Final judging results will be announced on November 20, 2026 at 12:00 noon.
Cash awards will be mailed to winners on November 21, 2026.
